Rocking the Boat pt. 2

For a moment they all sat in silence until even Celia began to feel somewhat uncomfortable. “Say Pomona, isn’t that dress starting to look a little tight over the waist?” she said jokingly, though she watched in statisfaction as Pomona’s hand curled up next to Arthur’s arm. Ahh, bingo…

Celia got up and Poppy followed, not feeling too good all of a sudden she decided to retreat to the bedroom while Celia headed to the bathroom.
“You know, Poppy is a really good friend…” Pomona said, looking ahead of her and smiling a little as she recalled how Poppy had helped her out and even let her live with her when she got knocked up.

“If she’s such a good friend, you shouldn’t let her marry him…” Arthur said and Pomona abruptly stopped smiling. “It doesn’t matter if you’re not planning on doing it again or that you didn’t know that they were… Engaged… But he did know…”

“I know it’s not a joke Artie… I’m not a child… I know it was wrong,” Pomona sighed. “I don’t think he liked it though… That I treated him like a toy that I could throw away when I was done with him…”

“The fact that you didn’t wait until he’d left before you called me hardly helped either…” Arthur muttered as Pomona shifted. “No, I suppose you’re right… You don’t seem to mind though…” she bit her lip. “Pomona, you’ve gotta tell her, otherwise someone else will…” Artie ignored her last comment, not looking at her as he spoke.

“I know I know, I just don’t want to lose my best friend, alright? She’s all I have…” Pomona’s face darkened and had she spared a glance at Arthur she’d have noticed the frown that had come over his face.

The conversations could have been played on repeat over and over, because it was pretty much the same thing that Pomona and Arthur talked about whenever they talked. And whenever Poppy came close it’s suddenly be eerily quiet, Pomona never knew if Poppy had heard something or thought something about it, but she grew more and more sad as she watched her friend. Arthur offered little support besides “tell her” though he never made much of a move to tell her himself, at least his efforts didn’t seem to increase.

Sometimes Pomona would try to break the quiet by saying something that’d either get Arthur’s attention, Poppy’s or both. It could be thing such as: “A friend of mine first had sex in a hallway cupboard” or “I lost it on a train.”
I’m glad you included that little rundown at the end because I was getting a *touch* confused!
Poor Poppy. She’s caught in the middle of all this and it seems like she might know something is up but she isn’t sure what.

I figured that if I started to find things a little confusing, someone else was bound to be even more confused
I have a note with the exact same thing on it next to my computer, though I’m starting to get it now ^^
Yeah, I feel bad for Poppy, but I feel even worse for Baptista who’s completely innocent (he’s never been involved with either Poppy or Pomona). But Poppy is clearly sensing that something is up yes.
