Rocking the Boat pt. 2

More often than not though, Arthur would spoil any distractions she attempted. “Well, I heard of this guy who slept with a friend of his fianceĆ©, it didn’t end well…” What neither Pomona nor Arthur seemed to notice was that sometimes Poppy was nearby, sometimes she’d laugh it off, but every once in awhile she’d just stop what she was doing and stand still as if she didn’t know what to do. She’d even stop dancing and look around like a lost puppy.

As best as Pomona might have tried to hide it, one secret had become rather evident to both of them and one day after coming home from work Poppy stopped the nanny. “Look, I just wanted to tell you that there’s probably going to be an extra kid for you to care for soon…” the nanny had looked pleased, but as Poppy had walked away she could’ve sworn she heard the nanny mutter “I wonder which one is the father…”

It was soon more than obvious what was going on and Pomona found herself on maternity leave again. Unlike last time where she’d spent most of her time worrying, she spent more time socialising this time around, trying to get friends outside the house and more importantly trying to get some female friends. She figured that nothing too horrible could happen by befriending a woman, especially not as long as she took care to ask about civil status and the name of the significant other as soon as she could. Luckily Selene Valentine was single, and from what she told Pomona, none too interested in anything serious. Still, Pomona would take care to listen for any male names that Selene might drop.

However, Poppy had started to sense slight shifts at home and she hadn’t talked to Socrates in weeks. One day, just before she was going to work she broke down in the kitchen, dropping her sandwhich to the floor. “I don’t think I can do this much longer…” she’d whimpered before cleaning up the plate and going to work.

Then it happened, it had just been a day, much like any other day and Pomona had been prepping the nursery for a second addition. She’d gone to get herself a sandwhich to ease a craving when she’d spotted Arthur and Poppy standing in the living room. Poppy looked rather forlorn and sad, but she didn’t say anything, just reaching one hand out for Arthur and looking like she was about to fall apart.

Arthur quickly drew her into his arms and as Pomona neared the end of the hallway she met Arthur’s eyes. She’d have to tell Poppy soon, she knew and Arthur’s eyes as he held Poppy told Pomona that she should probably cut things off with Arthur soon too.

As Poppy drew back, Pomona disappeared into the bathroom before Poppy could see her.

A little later Arthur prepared some sandwhiches for them, but Pomona declined, saying she wanted to take a quick nap instead. Though she kept her door slightly ajar and being the closest to the kitchen she listened as Arthur and Poppy talked.
“Love is important Poppy, you shouldn’t take it for granted… But you should also know that there are more than just one the one out there…”
I’m glad you included that little rundown at the end because I was getting a *touch* confused!
Poor Poppy. She’s caught in the middle of all this and it seems like she might know something is up but she isn’t sure what.

I figured that if I started to find things a little confusing, someone else was bound to be even more confused
I have a note with the exact same thing on it next to my computer, though I’m starting to get it now ^^
Yeah, I feel bad for Poppy, but I feel even worse for Baptista who’s completely innocent (he’s never been involved with either Poppy or Pomona). But Poppy is clearly sensing that something is up yes.
